Herb Garden

Fresh herbs at your fingertips — the easiest and most rewarding start for any balcony gardener.

Why Start with Herbs?

Herbs are perfect for beginners: they grow fast, need minimal space, and reward you with fresh flavor all season. Most herbs thrive in small pots and tolerate the variable conditions of balcony life better than many vegetables.

🌿 Basil

Full sun, warm weather. Pinch flowers to keep leaves tender. Water when soil surface dries.

🌿 Mint

Partial shade OK. Always grow in its own pot — it spreads aggressively. Keep soil moist.

🌿 Rosemary

Full sun, drought-tolerant once established. Use well-draining soil and avoid overwatering.

🌿 Parsley & Cilantro

Partial sun, cool roots. Cilantro bolts in heat — succession plant every 3 weeks.

Harvesting Tips

Harvest in the morning when oils are strongest. Never remove more than one-third of the plant at once. Regular harvesting encourages bushy growth and prevents bolting in leafy herbs like basil and cilantro.
